ACB registers FIR in illegal appointments case against Gh. Nabi Shah, former Chairman and officials of Urban Co-operative Bank Limited Anantnag

ACB registered FIR no. 4/2020 under section 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) of J&K P.C. Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B RPC against Gh. Nabi Shah, it’s former Chairman and officials of Urban Co-operative Bank Limited Anantnag.

2. The said case FIR was registered on the outcome of a verification conducted by Anti-Corruption Bureau which revealed that officers/management of Urban Co-operative Bank Limited Anantnag under Sh. Gh. Nabi Shah, have issued dozens of illegal appointment orders of their own ineligible kith and kin and others who allegedly paid to them. It was found that these illegal appointments were ordered by the said management without any formal advertisement, examination/Interview and eligibility criteria etc, by misusing their official positions in favour of such beneficiaries. These beneficiaries were kith and kin of the bank officials and sheer nepotism was shown in engaging these beneficiaries and facilitating their permanent absorption in the said bank without following due procedure during the year 2010-13.

3. During investigation, searches were conducted at the residence of the Former Chairman in Anantnag. During search incriminating documents were seized and are being examined.
