ACB produces charge-sheet in Disproportionate Assets case against Showkat Ali, SO, Directorate of Stationery and Office Supplies



ACB presented charge-sheet in case FIR No. 20/2007 of P/S ACB Jammu for commission of offences U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) of J&K PC Act Samvat 2006 and sections 109/120-B/RPC, 12/14 Public Men & Public Servant Declaration of Assets and 3/4 Benami Act against Showket Ali S/o Wali Mohd. R/o Nangali Tehsil Basholi, presently posted as Section Officer in Directorate of Stationery and Office Supplies, J&K. He had amassed huge wealth and raised many assets, both moveable and immoveable, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income. He had raised many of these properties as Benami in connivance with his closed relatives as well as friends in order to conceal his ill gotten wealth. These relatives/friends, namely (2) Abdul Gani S/o Ali Mohd @ Gaga R/o Pallai Tehsil Basholi Kathua (since died) (3) Pardeep Kumar S/o Sh. Basant Ram R/o Village Thein Tehsil & District Kathua (4) Vijay Kumar S/o Sh. Puran Chand R/o Channi Himmat Jammu (5) Amit Kumar Dogra and (6) Sumit Kumar Dogra Ss/o Sh. Pawan Kumar Dogra R/o W.No. 08 Basholi Kathua have also been arrayed as co-accused in the challan.

Accused Showket Ali was found to have acquired a number of Immovable / Movable properties in his own name as well as in the name of his relatives and friends which included two storied house at Bhalla Colony, Channi Himmat, Jammu raised as benami property in the name of his close associate/co-accused, Pardeep Kumar S/o Basant Ram R/o Thein Kathua on which an expenditure of approximately Rs. 38.18 lakh was incurred. This house was subsequently transferred in the name of his father in law Abdul Gani in connivance with Amit Kumar and Sumit Kumar both sons of Pawan Kumar by preparing Agreement to Sell, Power of Attorney and Sale Deeds to cover up the benami property purchased by Showket Ali. Further, he has also raised a single storey house at village Nangali, Basholi on his ancestral land valuing Rs. 7.54 lakh. Besides, the accused has also raised movable assets in shape of a car valuing Rs. 3.50 lakh purchased in the name of his father-in-law Abdul Gani and cash deposit of Rs. 2,22,652/- in the name of his wife and family members.

During the course of investigation, it has been established that the accused Showket Ali in connivance with other accused persons acquired movable and immovable properties as well as benami assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs. 44,48,078/- in his own name and in the name of his close friends and relatives.

The charge-sheet of the case against all the above mentioned accused persons was presented before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu for judicial determination.
