ACB organized various Seminars and other interactive programmes at various locations in connection with the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week






Vigilance and awareness are the hallmarks of a democracy, a system of governance by the people for, the people which derives legitimacy through transparency and a system of checks and balances. But in practice, democracies are often plagued by corruption. And as a reminder of the importance of fighting against corruption, the country on Monday started observing Vigilance Awareness Week. The Vigilance Awareness Week is celebrated every year in the birthday week of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, often referred to as the Bismark of India. Patel was born on October 31st and is hailed as a man of high integrity and honesty. This year, Vigilance Week is being observed from October 26 to November 1. The celebrations and activities planned through the week are aimed at recognising the ills of corruption and promoting ways to combat it at an individual as well as systemic level.

2. Sh. Mushtaq Choudhary, SSP ACB Udhampur organized a seminar in the Conference Hall of DC Office, Udhampur. The seminar was attended by the various officers of Civil Administration, NCC cadets, members of NGOs and public representatives of various panchayats and DD councils of Udhampur who were briefed about the objectives of Vigilance Awareness Week. Among those who participated include chairman DDC Udhampur Sh Lal Chand, Vice Chairman DDC Udhampur Smt Juhi Manhas, president Municipal Council Udhampur, Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta and Addl Deputy Commissioner; Udhampur Sh. Mohd Syed Khan. Stress was laid on the menace of corruption and the role/responsibility of the Govt. servants in weeding out the corruption from the society. Participants were further briefed about, how they can lodge a complaint in ACB. Awareness was imparted about PIDPI (Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of informers) and its provision where in complainants identity has to be kept secret.

3. Sh. Dalip Kumar, SSP ACB Jammu organized a speech contest on the topic: Role & Responsibilities of a Citizen in fighting Corruption was organized today by ACB at Sri Ranbir Model High Secondary School (SRML), Jammu. The students enthusiastically participated in the speech contest and spoke on various issues related to the corruption in the society and role of the society in curbing corruption in Government Departments. Three students namely (i) Milan Sharma (ii) Danish Choudhary and (ii) Deepanshu Kumar were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd. SSP ACB, Jammu also addressed students and staff of Sri Ranbir Model High Secondary School (SRML), Jammu and sought their cooperation in order to identify the Government officials indulging in corrupt practices for appropriate action against them.

4. Sh. S. Balasubramony, SSP ACB Central organised a workshop at the Conference Hall of GDC Kathua to commemorate the Vigilance Awareness Week 2021. SP Ayaz Sheikh, SP Abhisheik Sharma, Insp. Kamal Sangra gave a brief introduction and lecture on the corrupt practices adopted by the Government Officials and also give a presentation on the topic of corruption and awares the participants about the impact of the corruption and also advices them to not to be the part of the corrupt system. One such workshop in collaboration with District Administration Kathua was also organized at Hiranagar with interactive session with officers / officials of various department.

5. Sh. Joginder Singh, SSP ACB Rajouri organized Vigilance awareness program at Sunderbani, Rajouri.
