The J&K Anti Corruption Bureau aims to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life. As part of its efforts to promote probity in public life and to achieve a corruption free society, ACB observes Vigilance Awareness Week every year. The observation of Vigilance Awareness Week creates greater awareness among public and encourages all the stakeholders to collectively participate in prevention of and fight against corruption. During the week-long Vigilance Awareness campaign, various activities like public interaction, seminars, workshops, debates among students were conducted. These will sensitize and motivate citizens and officers/ official of UT of J&K to remain vigilant and transparent in their work in order to eradicate corruption in all spheres of life. In continuation to Vigilance Awareness Week -2021, today various events were organized by Anti Corruption Bureau at different places on the theme “Independent India @ 75; Self Reliance with Integrity”
2. Sh. S. Balasubramony, SSP ACB Central organized a workshop at the Brig. Rajinder Singh, auditorium of Jammu University to commemorate the Vigilance Awareness Week 2021. The Incharge Vice Chancellor of Jammu University Prof. Rajini Dingra, Registrar Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Dean Students Welfare Prof. Parkash C. Anthal, Director Women Studies, Prof. Vishav Raksha, of University of Jammu alongwith other faculty members of University of Jammu and officers / officials of the University also attended the workshop organized by ACB. SP Abhisheik Sharma gave a brief introduction about the Anti Corruption Bureau and talks about the corrupt practices adopted by the Government Officials and Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. SP S. Balasubramony gave a presentation on the topic of corruption, Aims of Anti-Corruption Bureau, expectations from the elite of the university and aware the participants about the impact of the corruption and also advices them to not to be the part of the corrupt system.The participants attended the workshop with great zeal and enthusiasm. In the last a brief questioning / interaction session was also held where the question of participants / audience were answered by the officers of ACB. Workshop on occasion of vigilance awareness week was also conducted at SKAUST University RS Pura Jammu. The workshop was attended by VC SKAUST Jammu Registrar , Various Faculty Members and students.
3. Sh. Abdul Waheed Shah, Incharge SSP ACB Baramulla organized a workshop at Government Degree College Baramulla. The workshop was attended by teaching faculty, students, NCC/ NSS Cadets of the College, besides all Investigating Officers of Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau Baramulla. During workshop Principal of the College Professor Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Professor Reyaz Ahmad Wani, Professor Arshad Ahmad Yatoo and Professor Masarat Geelani spoke on various aspects of the menace of corruption. SSP (ACB) Abdul Waheed and DSP (ACB) Sheikh Sajad highlighted the role of ACB and public in the eradication of this menace. It was underlined that informed citizenry is more crucial than sophisticated laws in preventing corrupt & unethical behaviour. The corrupt public servants will be more afraid of public, if educated & aware of their rights. So these public awareness programmes should continue throughout the year. During workshop debate competition among students of different colleges was also held. The first three position holders were awarded Certificates of Merit and Mementoes. Banners were also fixed outside Administrative offices at Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Sopore, Handwara & Sumbal. This was done to create awareness about vigilance in the citizens.
4. As a part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week Sh. Aftab Ahmad, SSP ACB Anantnag organized a day long workshop in joint collaboration with Islamic University of Science and Technology in the premises of University auditorium. The function was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shakeel Ahmad Roomshu. SSP ACB Anantnag, Mr. Mir Aftab Aalam, Joint Director Prosecution ACB, J&K, Mr. Gulshan Ahmad Kaloo, and Senior Prosecuting Officer, ACB South Kashmir, Mr. Farooq Ahmad addressed the audience about the importance of Vigilance Awareness and Preventive measures. Professor Mohammad Hussain of Law Faculty of Kashmir University also gave a brief resume of the legal aspects and role of other stake holders. Since students of the University also highlighted the prevalence of corruption in society and put forth suggestions. The Chief Guest Professor Shakeel Ahmad Roomshu gave an overall view about the importance of ensuring probity in public life. The Faculty of IUST, Officers of ACB and the students of University attended the workshop which included the taking of Integrity Pledge by all present in the workshop. The function ended with Vote of Thanks by the University administration.
5. Sh. Mushtaq Choudhary, SSP ACB Udhampur conducted seminars at Rembhal, Udhampur, JK Public Hr. Secondary School, Omara More, Udhmapur, Trial Ground of ARTO Udhmapur and outside District Court Complex Udhampur by the officers of Anti-Corruption Bureau Udhampur-Reasi Wing on the eve of Vigilance Awareness Week. The seminar was attended by various Govt. officers of different departments and general public. Participants were briefed regarding Anti-Corruption Laws, Rights and Responsibilities of General Public and Govt Employees in weeding out the corruption from the society. Participants were further briefed about, how they can lodge a complaint in ACB. Pamphlets were distributed and posters were pasted at conspicuous places. Awareness was imparted about PIDPI (Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of informers) and its provision where in complainants identity has to be kept secret.
6. Sh. Joginder Singh, SSP ACB Rajouri organized Webinars. Officers of Police Station ACB Rajouri namely Dy. SP Sunny Gupta, Inspr Raj Kumar Dhar and Inspr Maninder Singh delivered lectures through webinars to the faculty members and students of Degree College Surankote, Degree College Mandi and Degree College Nowshera respectively. During the said webinars, hundreds of students and faculty members of these Degree Colleges enthusiastically took part and expressed their resolve to fight against the menace of corruption. The officers interacted with the participants and also briefed them for lodging the complaints of such activities whenever they observe. They have also been assured that their grievances will be addressed on-spot satisfactorily. At the end, all the participants were encouraged to come forward and join in the fight against corruption. Banners and posters also displayed in Rajouri & Poonch Districts for spreading awareness. The DVOs of these Districts were also roped in organizing such programmes in their respective territorial jurisdictions.
7. Sh. Dalip Kumar, SSP ACB Jammu organized Inter School Speech Contest at Indian Public School, Kathua.
