Mohd. Sharif, Patwari, Halqa Surinsar, District Jammu convicted in Trap Case: one year imprisonment and with fine awarded in trap case.

The Honble Special Judge Anti Corruption, Jammu convicted Mohd. Sharif S/o Mohd. Ayoub R/o Jagti Nagrota, District Jammu, Patwari, Halqa Surinsar, District Jammu in Case FIR No. 17/2016 of PS VOJ (now ACB). The accused was sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for the period of one year with fine.

2. The instant case was registered at PS VOJ (now ACB) on the receipt of a complaint from the complainant for demand of ₹4000 for mutation of land purchased by the complainant. The accused Patwari of Halqa Surinsar has already received ₹9000 from the complainant and is further demanding ₹4000. The accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹4000 on the spot from the complainant.

3. After conclusion of the investigation a charge sheet was presented before the Honble Special. Judge, Anti Corruption, Jammu. The Honble Court convicted Mohd. Sharif, accused Patwari of Halqa Surinsar, Jammu to one year simple imprisonment for commission of offences U/s 4-A of Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006 and one year simple imprisonment for commission of offence U/s 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) of the said act with fine of ₹10000 in each offence. The court also ordered that both the sentences will run concurrently.
