ACB registers Disproportionate Assets case against Gh. Mohd Bhat, Junior Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE) Department; searches conducted

A Verification was conducted by Anti Corruption Bureau into the allegation of accumulation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income by one Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, then Junior Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Department Sub Division Pulwama.

The verification conducted has revealed that the above named public servant has accumulated huge assets, moveable and immovable, disproportionate to the known sources of income on his own name as well as his family members, the description of which is as under:-
10 Marlas of land bearing khasra No. 1403 at Jawahar Nagar Srinagar,
A three storied Tin Roofed concrete house with an attic at 129 Jawahar Nagar Srinagar built on above mentioned land.
A three storied palatial Tin roofed brick house with attic at Pehlipora Safapora.
Vehicle as well as other electronic equipments/gadgets etc.
J&K Bank cash certificates worth lakhs of rupees and insurance policies.
As per probe conducted, the expenditure incurred and value of assets acquired by suspect has been found to be disproportionate to the income earned from all known sources.

The aforementioned facts constitute commission of offence punishable under section u/s 13(1)(b) r/w 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act. 1988 (Amended in 2018) against Ghulam Mohammad Bhat S/O Abdul Khaliq Bhat R/O Pehlipora, Safapora, Ganderbal, then Junior Engineer. Jal Shakti PHE Department. Consequently, a case FIR No. 04/2025 is registered in P/S ACB Srinagar and investigation and further investigation taken up.

After obtaining proper search warrants from the Hon’ble Court, searches were carried at the residential houses of accused located at Jawahar Nagar Srinagar and Safapora Ganderbal.
